Wellness Partners Hawaii Inc. is the first nurse practitioner owned and operated tele mental health clinic started by Dr. Bradley Kuo in the state of Hawaii. Our diverse team is comprised of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialist, licensed clinical socials workers, licensed marriage and family therapists as well as licensed mental health counselors. All of our nurse practitioners have prescriptive authority in the state of Hawaii for your medication needs. All of our therapists are trained and qualified to assess, diagnose and help treat mental health concerns. We work together as a team to provide the best combined care treatment for you. 

PROVIDER TYPES

PSYCHIATRIC MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONER (PMHNP)

Degree: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

Training: Nursing school, clinical training and certification

PHMNPs focus on helping our patients cope with different psychiatric disorders and illnesses, including anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, mood disorders, substance abuse etc. primarily through medication management. Our PMHNPs possess a strong sense of empathy to understand their patients and provide specialized care. Our PMHNPs all have prescriptive authority to address your medication needs in the state of Hawaii.

PSYCHOLOGIST (PSYD.)

Degree: Doctor of Psychology (PsyD.)

Training: School of psychology, clinical work and post-doctoral fellowship

Psychologists hold one of the highest levels of education amongst healthcare professionals. Psychologists have professional and clinical training to help people learn to cope more effectively with life issues and mental health concerns. On top of psychotherapy, psychologists may also perform psychological tests and assessments to further diagnose a condition or tell more about the way a person thinks, feels, and behaves. 

LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER (LCSW)

Degree: Master of Social Work (MSW)

Training: Graduate training plus min. 3,000 hrs. of supervised clinical work

Each LCSW practices various types of therapeutic modalities and may have different areas of focus to address issues involving mental and emotional health. Our LCSWs work with their patients to find out what strong natural skills and talents they possess that can be used as a launching point to tackle issues causing hardship in the individual’s life. LCSW's framework approach is very holistic. They will take into account not only the individual's emotional and psychological makeup, but also societal and environmental factors as well.

LICENSED MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST (LMFT)

Degree: Master in Psychology (MA/MS) with emphasis in Marriage and Family

Training: Graduate training, practicum and min. 1,000 -3,000hrs. of supervised clinical work varied by state

LMFTs practice various types of therapeutic modalities with an areas of focus more specifically on the relational and interpersonal dynamics within families, marriages, and couples. With a more specialized field, LMFTs focus on a wide range of topics such as premarital, relationship, separation, childhood, and divorce counseling, as well as more specific conditions like depression, anxiety, and other psychological issues within relationships and families.

LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR (LMHC)

Degree: Master in Psychology (MA/MS) with emphasis in Counseling Psychology

Training: Graduate training, practicum and min. 3,000 hrs. of supervised clinical work

LMHC offers a broader scope of mental health counseling and intervention that focuses primarily on the needs of patients as individuals with the purpose of improving mental health, though they may also work with families and in group settings. LMHCs work with the client on an internal and individual level ensuring the client’s focus is on what they can do within their life to change things.
